2. Attributes

1. Introduction

The BaseEntity configuration specifies how data should be read from and written to the targeted datasource. The attributes are set when the BaseEntity is created. In general you do not need any additional configuration these attributes. Only if there are significant changes to the datasource, updating the attributes might be in order.

To edit the BaseEntity, open the Silver Editor and go to Mapping, BaseEntities. By default, the Properties panel will be expanded. Click on the Attributes header to expand this panel:

2. Available Attributes

The following Attributes are available for configuration:
  • Name
The unique name of the BaseEntity. Once the BaseEntity is used in the configuration of BusinessEntities, you cannot change the name anymore.
  • Domain
The Domain from which the data is coming.
  • Version
This is a calculated field and will be automatically changed upon saving changes to the BaseEntity. It cannot be updated manually.
  • BusinessObject Name
Each BaseEntity has, for technical reasons, a corresponding BusinessObject which handles the actual reading/writing. Right now it requires no additional configuration.
  • DataTable Name or DataSource Name
Depending on what type of Domain you have selected, this field may vary. If you used an OleDB Domain to connect to a database, it will show the DataTable Name. If you used the OData Domain to connect to a webservice, the DataSource would be shown.
  • Identifier
The unique name for the connection to the datasource.
  • Parameters
Parameters can be used if function tables are used with a database connection. The configuration for this is not covered in this section.
